Two Leaders of Society
I keep thinking about this video I saw on TikTok: Society’s Leaders? Schizophrenics vs. Sociopaths. It was long – too long for TikTok. It was some disturbed, old, wild-haired guy rambling on in front of a whiteboard drawing diagram after diagram. I doubt most people even let it play for more than a second. But see: TikTok (and every form of The Algorithm) “knows” you better than you know yourself – dumped into “Schizophrenic TikTok.”
The essential argument the guy made is that there are two general types of mentally ill people who wind up determining the direction of whole societies: Schizophrenics, or Sociopaths.
Schizophrenics
The schizophrenics are your shamans – intuitive, illogical, reactionary, impulsive. Prone to exaggerations and allusions and inferences that are not true and maybe not even based in reality. But also well accustomed to madness and pain, so defaulting to compassion and a tolerant attitude. These types of societies typically don’t go on to accomplish world-shaking things – probably because their schizophrenic leaders aren’t capable of planning that far ahead. They bog themselves down in the details – or just make things up whole cloth. But they are far more pleasant societies to live in, with excellent senses of community. Tribal societies are the predominant real world example.
Sociopaths
The sociopaths are your intellectuals – calculating, logical, deceptive, cold. Grounded in a hard-nosed reality about what humanity is and what he is capable of – unlike the schizophrenic, who is more of a dreamer. Sociopaths act only toward the goal of taking something from someone else to benefit himself, and dominating mass groups of people by any means necessary. These societies go on to create world-spanning Empires, advance technology beyond comprehension, colonize other star systems. But they are essentially cruel and heartless – and the people living in them who are not at the apex are subject to the most extreme forms of poverty, oppression, and misery.
Schizophrenics vs. Sociopaths
Schizophrenics vs. Sociopaths. It is my belief that America has fully chosen the sociopathic route. And possibly most of Western Europe going at least as far back as the ancient Greeks. And maybe even farther back than that – sociopaths survive above all else, and better adapt themselves to harsh conditions as would have been found in the early days of civilization. It’s an interesting concept. But when all of you finally get your Magic Jesus Dictator or whatever the fuck it is you want, this overweening obsession with malice and selfishness will force everything to fall apart.
And the society of the schizophrenic will rise again. I’ll be waiting for that day.
