Salvia is a Hell of a Drug

I dreamed I was at Al’s and we were watching an animated movie of some kind. It wasn’t really Al’s place, it was somewhere else, but I knew this was the place where he lived. I knew that he, his fiancé, my brother, and some kid (I think it was Al’s child which he has yet to have) were there. I felt like I was melting into the couch as the movie played scenes of shifting geometric patterns and amorphous, flowing shapes. I couldn’t move. I was trying to stand up but I couldn’t. Eventually I managed the monumental task of turning my head to look at Al and I said, “Man, can I talk to you upstairs for a second.”

I staggered off of the couch and we went upstairs. Al looked at me disgustedly and said, “Dude, haven’t you got that worked out of your system yet?” For a moment I thought that I had slipped up and smoked a bunch of weed or something. I asked him this and he said no. “You said this movie would pep you up, not put you to sleep,” he said. I was shocked; I had no memory of what I had been telling him. It was as though I were having false memories again.

Then I said, barely able to speak, “Man, I’m having the most powerful acid / Salvia flashbacks I’ve ever had.” Slowly the dream began to be intercut with images of my room here, but I still couldn’t move, I couldn’t get up. Gradually I faded into consciousness and found I was gazing at the bookshelf with my eyes open.
