Spent some more time with The Brother.

He likes to tailor his sermons to me by directly responding to arguments about belief, faith, and Christianity that he assumes that I hold, in an attempt to dissuade me from my views while also trolling me at the same time. On occasion he will throw out his entire outline and sermon plan in order to do this.

This makes me wish to cease attending his church, not because I feel uncomfortable, but because the impatient glares I receive from the few parishioners surrounding me suggest that they don’t much appreciate this obviously preferential treatment. I find it to be very humorous, but he is quite off-base on some of his assumptions.

I must engage in a lengthy doctrinal and theological discussion with him to apprise him of my latest feelings about the disdainfulness of organized religion, while at the same time updating him with what I feel are less reactionary views regarding atheism, strict materialism, and the authenticity of Christ’s resurrection.

I must also explain my true reasons for attending his church; he may assume that it is because I wish to “return to the fold” as it were and he is the most likely person to convince me to do so, but the real reason is that I want to support The Brother as much as I can since he was shafted in every way, shape, and form by his supposed friends at another church. I can barely tolerate any church service in any form. In fact, I believe they typically cause a mild hemorrhaging in my liver and pancreas.

The Brother may consider the long sought-for (re)(re)(re)conversion of caco to be a major feather in his cap, were it to occur, and I hate to set him up for the fall.
