Bachelor Chow

You may wonder why I seemingly eat only instant or frozen foods. It’s not only because I’m incredibly lazy and messy when it comes to the preparation of food. I haven’t found a way to cook for one person that rivals instant food for its lack of expense.

For one thing, I have a poorly stocked pantry, and to prepare any normal Internet recipe requires all kinds of ingredients and spices that I have to buy entire bottles of and only use once, for the most part.

Second, I’m always sharing my creations with everyone who will sample them, primarily because I seek attention and praise for my work at cooking. I like to think I’ve done a good job the few times I have cooked a meal. So, as a result, my meals don’t go as far as they should and I have fewer leftovers, leading to greater expense for each meal.

It’s far cheaper just to eat a $3 frozen pizza rather than buy two pounds of chicken breast and all the ingredients to make an actual meal out of it. So I continue on with my horrible frozen diet, doing irreparable damage to my body no doubt.

The only way I think I could come off better is if I meticulously planned out every meal I ate. Prepare this meal, eat this many days of leftovers, use the same ingredients in the next meal, and this is where my innate laziness comes in. I don’t want to spend hours on this task, I’d rather just throw something in the microwave or the oven and be done with it. I guess in the end I’m just making excuses, if I were more diligent I would’t have any problems cooking for myself. Bachelors have done it for far longer than I’ve been alive, and before microwave ovens even. I guess I just have a lot of things I need to work on about myself.
